LCD screen fixed!

I purchased a used LCD screen through ebay,  and yes there was NO power supply and I had to buy one AND there was this annoying blue spot in the screen, a stuck pixel.   I finally found a fix for it!   I ran it for a lot longer (overnight) than the recommended  20 minutes because it was still stuck after recommended time.  I restarted the machine the next day and it seemed to still be stuck,  but through the morning the blue spot disappeared!!   So if you have stuck pixels or burned in images in your LCD try JScreenFix!  You will need Java.

Mozilla Firefox:

Just downloaded Pro Web Surfer Firefox extension yesterday and I LOVE it!  You can upload your own images or use some from their website TO REPLACE embedded ADS!   I think it's great.  Never again will those annoying flashing ads bother me when I am on yahoo!

I also dloaded Image Zoom Firefox extension.  This add-on allows you to right click on any image and use the scroll wheel to zoom in or out!  It also lets you "fit" the image or zoom at any percentage of the original.  VERY cool and useful.

Phone issues:

I am also very concerned about Nextel's lack of support for 3rd party phones and am currently researching workarounds.  So don't get stuck with a rotten blackberry or other cr*p.  There seems to be an inherent incompatibility with most phones with Nextel's iDEN network.

iDEN

Integrated Digital Enhanced Network
or
Integrated Dispatch Enhanced Network

iDEN is a TDMA-based digital wireless standard designed to work in special frequencies originally designated for analog Specialized Mobile Radio (SMR) networks. iDEN was invented by Motorola, who remains the primary manufacturer of iDEN devices.

iDEN provides several unique features, including integrated push-to-talk (PTT) walkie-talkie capability.

iDEN is used in the U.S. by Nextel and Southern LINC.

Newer iDEN phones use a SIM card that is compatible with GSM phones for overseas roaming. However, iDEN is a very different standard from GSM. Most iDEN phones are not compatible with GSM networks, and GSM phones are not compatible with iDEN networks.

Sprint operates a nationwide network with CDMA technology in the PCS (1900 MHz) band, in addition to a nationwide iDEN network acquired during Sprint's merger with Nextel in August 2005.  Click here for a list of compatible phones.

So check back and I will post links to how-to's and workaraounds.  If you have any info please email me:  rexmollc{at}sbcglobal.net.

NEXTEL by Sprint Users

Apparently only a very select few phones will work with Nextel.  You MUST have a phone that will work with the iDEN network in order to upgrade from a bloopberry.  Nextel SIMs will not work in a GSM phone and will ONLY work in an iDEN capable phone.
